Domestic arrivals terminal

ABSA,Nedbank and FNB have automatic teller machines (ATMs) in the domestic arrivals terminal.

Domestic departures terminal

Standard Bank, ABSA and Nedbank have ATMs in the domestic departures terminal. ABSA also has a bureau de change here.

Chapel and prayer rooms

​Passengers who require a room in which to pray can be accommodated. Any ACSA representative at the airport will be able to assist.

Disabled

Airports Company South Africa is committed to providing world-class facilities that meet the needs of all airport users. We focus on ensuring existing and new facilities within our airports meet the particular needs of disabled travellers and airport users.

In the multi-storey parkade at Cape Town International Airport there are disabled parking bays at all levels while the airport itself features special lifts, ramps, wheelchairs and toilets for the disabled.

Passengers who require assistance boarding and disembarking from aircraft can make arrangements with the relevant airline when booking.

Porters

​The porters at Cape Town International Airport are identifiable by their orange and black uniforms. As they are self-employed and rely on tips for income a gratuity of R5 is recommended for each item of luggage handled. Restrooms

​There are restrooms in all terminal buildings. Baby-changing facilities and other amenities for young children are available in most ladies restrooms.

Public telephones

Public telephones take coins or phone cards and are sited in all terminals.

Mobile telephone rentals – VodaShop Rent a Fone and MTN Mobile Phone Rental are located in the international terminal. There is also a VodaShop Rent a Fone in the domestic arrivals terminal.

Transit / Transfer facility

Cape Town International Airport has a fully functional transit / transfer facility that facilitates in-transit passengers taking an international or regional connecting flight.

The following procedure will apply to passengers from an aerobridge (Passenger Loading Bridge) stand:

– Follow the directional signage indicating “International Transfers”
– Relevant airline staff will accompany passengers through process and route
– Boarding passes must be retained for the continuation of journeys where already issued;
– Where no boarding pass was issued, this can be printed at the transfer / transit facility by your airline;
– Hand baggage check may be conducted at the transfer facility by Customs and Airports Company South Africa’s Aviation Security Officers;
– All visa restricted passport holders require a Transit visa to transit South African airports irrespective of length of transit.
– Follow the directional signage to the international departure lounge for boarding
– Please allow for a minimum connecting time of 1 hour to facilitate all processes

The following procedure will apply to passengers from a non-aerobridge stand:

– Relevant airline personnel shall be required to direct relevant passengers to the transit / transfer facilities
– Passengers transiting or transferring shall prior to the international arrivals immigration processing area, take the steps or lift towards the transit facility;
– Passengers are then required to follow the directional signage indicating “International Transfers”
– Boarding passes must be retained for the continuation of journeys where already issued;
– Where no boarding pass was issued, this can be printed at the transfer / transit facility by your airline;
– Hand baggage checks may be conducted at the transfer facility by Customs and Airport Officers;
– All visa restricted passport holders require a Transit visa to transit South African airports irrespective of length of transit.
– Follow the directional signage to the international departure lounge for boarding

VAT refunds

Foreign visitors leaving South Africa may claim back Value Added Tax paid on purchases from the VAT refund administrator. Goods must be presented to the administrator before check-in at the VAT refund office on the ground floor in the international departures terminal.

Once you have checked in and passed through passport control your VAT refund (less the administrator’s commission) is paid back at the VAT office on the ground floor of international departures, before passport control and the boarding gates.
