Transit / Transfer Facility
Introduction
Cape Town International Airport has a fully functional transit / transfer facility that facilitates in-transit passengers taking an international or regional connecting flight.
The following procedure will apply to passengers from an aerobridge (Passenger Loading Bridge) stand:
Follow the directional signage indicating “International Transfers”
Relevant airline staff will accompany passengers through process and route
Boarding passes must be retained for the continuation of journeys where already issued;
Where no boarding pass was issued, this can be printed at the transfer / transit facility by your airline;
Hand baggage check may be conducted at the transfer facility by Customs and Airports Company South Africa’s Aviation Security Officers;
All visa restricted passport holders require a Transit visa to transit South African airports irrespective of length of transit.
Follow the directional signage to the international departure lounge for boarding
Please allow for a minimum connecting time of 1 hour to facilitate all processes
The following procedure will apply to passengers from a non-aerobridge stand:
Relevant airline personnel shall be required to direct relevant passengers to the transit / transfer facilities
Passengers transiting or transferring shall prior to the international arrivals immigration processing area, take the steps or lift towards the transit facility;
Passengers are then required to follow the directional signage indicating “International Transfers”
Boarding passes must be retained for the continuation of journeys where already issued;
Where no boarding pass was issued, this can be printed at the transfer / transit facility by your airline;
Hand baggage checks may be conducted at the transfer facility by Customs and Airport Officers;
All visa restricted passport holders require a Transit visa to transit South African airports irrespective of length of transit.

Arriving passengers
Arriving passengers will arrive on the ground floor of the Central Terminal Building. The international arrivals and domestic arrivals have passage ways that link directly into the ground floor of the Central Terminal Building.
Both Domestic and International arrivals have areas for s and greeters. There are numerous restaurants available on the ground floor food court that you are able to use when waiting for arriving passengers
Hiring a vehicle or using Valet Parking
The route for car hire returns has changed. When returning your vehicle, you will continue with the Airport Approach Road after turning off the N2 and continue onto Ring Road.
Please remain in the far right lane as Ring Road will lead into Central Boulevard. Central Boulevard will have a turn off to the right into the car rental facilities. Valet Parking is located in e 1 which can be found after the Transport Plaza on the left hand side of the Central Boulevard.
Special needs passengers
Passengers with mobility restrictions requiring special access can contact the Landside hotline number on +27 (0) 21 935 3737. Special needs passengers should also contact their respective airline 48 hours in advance.
Important information:
Arrive at the airport timeously to avoid any delays; 1h30mins for Domestic flights and 2h30mins for International flights.
Do not leave any baggage, handbags or parcels unattended. Please report any unattended baggage to your nearest airport representative.
The Drop and Go facility is located on the elevated roadway. All passenger drop-offs for departures are accommodated here.
Smoking is only permitted in designated smoking areas.
No one is allowed to photograph the security check point and any area on airside.
Aviation Security Threats: We encourage passengers and airport users not to say anything which will be deemed a threat. The Airport takes any threats to Aviation Security seriously and we would like to take this opportunity to urge passengers to be mindful and not trivialise having explosives in their luggage. Any individual who makes such statements at the airport will be arrested and charged under the Civil Aviation Act.
Unattended Baggage: Passengers are urged not to leave any baggage, handbags or parcels unattended and to report any unattended baggage to the nearest airport representative, security staff or the South African Police Service.
Baggage Allowance: All airlines have baggage regulations which passengers need to adhere to, the airport would like to encourage passengers to make note of these. Economy Class Passengers: only

My Citi Bus
Airport shuttle schedule
This service runs between the Civic Centre in the City on Hertzog Boulevard in central Cape Town, and Cape Town International Airport. It will be a permanent service, continuing after the World Cup.
The trip will take about 30 minutes outside of peak hour and tickets are sold at the airport station and the Civic Centre station.
