Take a trip to one of the most beautiful and well-known farms in Cape Town, Babylonstoren. Here, we can admire the old manor house, perfectly preserved in the Cape Dutch tradition, before embarking on a tour of the spectacular gardens.
We are guided through the garden, which was based on the Company Gardens of the Cape; a replenishment station for passing ships in years gone by. We get acquainted with over 300 varieties of plants, divided into different areas for vegetables, berries, indigenous plants, ducks and chickens. There’s even a prickly pear maze. The best part? All plants in the garden can be eaten or used for medicinal purposes. Explore, engage your senses and enjoy the view of climbing roses and blossoms.
After your garden visit, head to the winery for a tasting of the best flagship wines that the estate produces. Sample some of the Cape’s finest export, and indulge in some olive oil tasting before heading home.
